Associate Attorney
About This Position
Silva Santos, PC is actively seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience to join our thriving Personal Injury and Real Estate law firm. We are searching for an individual who can seamlessly collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management within the firm. Compensation will be determined based on experience.
Qualifications
- Admitted and licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in good standing
- Experience handling personal injury cases is required
- Strong research and writing skills, along with excellent academic credentials
- Great interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds
- Hands-on familiarity with various computer applications, including Microsoft Office, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and Adobe Acrobat
- Good organization, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
Duties
- Manage a caseload of personal injury cases from inception to resolution
- Interact with clients, address their inquiries, and provide updates on the progress of their cases
- Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law pertaining to personal injury cases
- Prepare and review legal documents, including complaints, answers, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and other pleadings
- Manage the discovery process
- Negotiate with opposing parties, insurance companies, and defense attorneys to secure fair and favorable settlements on behalf of clients
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, motions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of cases, identify potential legal issues, and devise effective legal strategies
- Conduct case evaluations to assess the likelihood of success, potential damages, and risks associated with pursuing a personal injury claim
- Utilize case management software to accurately update case status and upload documents to each client account
- Perform other duties as assigned
